INFORMATION DAY AT JESENICE GRAMMAR SCHOOL

INTRODUCTION

This report presents information day at Jesenice grammar school. As a student at Jesenice grammar school. I will present the purpose, the organisation, the course of the day, the opinion of the participants and my personal opinion. This report was written as a part of the ITS lessons, for everyone who want to know more about information day.

THE PURPOSE

The purpose of the event was that as many future students as possible decide to enrol in the Jesenice grammar school in the next school year 2020/2021. This is in the interest of all participants, including the principal, the teacher and students of the Jesenice grammar school, therefore, everyone invested their time and efforts to make the event interesting and to present the main highlights of the school.

THE ORGANISATION

Organisation began a few weeks before the event. Teachers prepared presentations about their subject and events that the future students would attend. Volunteer students were helping with handing out flyers, pens, and soaps, and were assisting teachers with presentations or guiding visitors.

THE COURSE OF THE DAY

On Friday and Saturday at 9AM and Friday at 3PM parents and pupils of 8th and 9th grades of primary schools gathered in the school gym, where two students led the course of the event, followed by a speech by the principal. All participants were informed about schooling, they also had the opportunity to listen to the school choir. After the end of the event, the visitors were divided into groups to see the classrooms and the presentations of some teachers. Future students were also able eat something sweet in the school canteen.

THE OPINION OF THE PARTICIPANT

Many participants thought that this year’s information day was better presented than last year’s. Volunteer students were complimented by a lot of the teachers. Everyone was excited over such a large number of visitors.

MY PERSONAL OPINION

My personal opinion is that each participant tried very hard to make the event as good as possible. Therefore, the decision for visitors should not be so hard, especially after they had the chance to talk with current students, who present the school in the best light. We will see how successful the information day was after May 11, which is the deadline for submission enrolment in secondary schools.
